Description

This charming country cottage feels right at home in nature. This compact house was designed as a vacation home, but it could function as a year–round residence. It's rustic in appearance, and its steep roofline and angled garage make it visually unique. And even though it's under 1,600 sf, there's room for three bedrooms above ground, and room for a fourth if you choose to build the basement level.

The breezeway between the house and the garage also functions as the foyer. Windows flank the door on either side, and there's a large coat closet. As you step into the house, there are stairs to the upper (and lower) levels on your right, while the open living area is straight ahead. The living and dining area has a ceiling that vaults to a soaring 22' in the middle, while the ceiling in the kitchen is set at a cozy 8'.

A large stone fireplace sits at one end of the living space, with a window next to it so you can see who's entering the front door. On the adjoining wall at the front of the house there's a glass door that opens to a charming screened porch, and a quartet of windows with an additional pair above them for light and views. The wall across from the fireplace has a trio of windows at the spot where the dining room table would probably be located, and has a pair of windows over the sink in the kitchen. There are also two bedrooms on this level that share a bath.

The upper level is devoted to the "Couple's Realm". A trio of windows on one wall provide light and views, and there's another window above a built–in cabinet in a small corner nook. The ceiling in this bedroom vaults to 14' in the middle. In addition to a bath and a walk–in closet, there's a small loft area with a railing that looks down to the living area.

Should you decide to build the basement level, it's designed to have a bedroom with a full bath, a laundry room, a large rumpus room, and spaces for mechanicals and storage.
