Description

Like all the homes in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Pueblo "style" inspired the design of this stunning house. With its abundant windows and glazed doors, the interior is filled with natural light during the day. It was originally built with Rastra wall panels, which creates thermal mass for insulation, though it can also be modified to wood stud framing. A loggia wraps around the house, and is framed with arched openings. An upper deck also wraps around the house for enjoying the outdoor weather and views.

As you walk under the entry trellis, you find yourself in an entry portal that opens into the foyer. To the right are a bedroom and a full bath, and straight ahead are arched openings that open into the living room. A fireplace sits in the center wall of the living room, with a glass door on either side of it that gives views to the outside loggia beyond. Up a few steps from the living room is a dining room, which has views to the family room beyond. Like the living room, the family room also has a central fireplace, which is flanked by a pair of glass doors on either side of it. A curved breakfast bar separates the family room from the open kitchen. A door from the kitchen leads to a powder room, a laundry room, a shop space, and a 2–car garage.

A skylit stairwell leads you upstairs to a loft space, which may be used as a children's area or study, and is open to the family room below. A pair of doors from the loft opens onto a wrap–around deck, and another door leads to a smaller deck with a hot tub. Across from the loft area there is a large master bedroom suite, with a walk–in closet, an outdoor deck, and a door to the hot tub deck. Down the hall, the space opens up with a railing that gives views to the entry foyer below. There are two more bedrooms and a full bath located here.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a slab foundation. You can of course change it to a full or partial basement, or to a crawlspace, but you will need the help of a local builder or designer, and the new foundation plans should be reviewed by a structural engineer prior to construction.
