Description
This home has a creative plan, and was designed for maximum views on a unique lot. The full basement walks out to a lower terrace in the rear, which has columns to support the large upper terrace on the main floor.
As you come off the covered entry, you enter a two–story foyer with a balcony above. To the right are a formal dining room and a hall that leads to a powder room, a mudroom, a laundry, and a three-car garage. From the mudroom there is a door to a side porch, which creates a secondary entrance to the home. From the foyer, a striking family room, with a two–story barrel ceiling and large picture windows, is straight ahead. Views to the outdoor open terrace line the rear wall, and provide abundant natural light. A fireplace flanked by built–ins is along one wall, and the other side features a curved breakfast bar that separates the family room from the open kitchen. From the kitchen there is an opening to a pantry closet and to the dining room. It's also open to a breakfast room, which has sliding glass doors to the terrace on one wall, and sliding doors to a screened porch along another wall. To the left of the family room is a master bedroom suite, which has a bay of windows to the rear. His/her walk–in closets separate the bedroom from the master bath. The master bath has a private toilet room in one corner, and a whirlpool tub and custom shower in the other two corners.
Upstairs a long balcony looks down to the family room and entry below. Two of the bedrooms have their own private full bath and walk–in closets. There is also a fourth bedroom with a walk–in closet, a full bath, and a game room on this floor.
The basement plan provides future expansion if needed. There is a huge game/recreation room, with a fireplace, built–ins, and wet bar. Glazed doors and windows look out to the lower terrace in the rear. There are also a wine cellar, an exercise studio, a full bath, a storage room, and a mechanical room on this level.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.
Please Note
This house was originally designed for a family in Charlotte, North Carolina, who (understandably) do not want another house just like theirs built nearby. If you're planning to build within a 50–mile radius of downtown Charlotte, the designer needs to approve the location – which he nearly always does – before he'll grant a copyright release allowing you to legally build the house. Just give us the address or location of your property, via email or phone –– and we'll get back to you right away.
Electronic Format
These plans were drawn using a well–known and highly respected architectural design software program called SoftPlan (version 13). This software can export the same files in .dwg format, so they can also be modified by anyone who uses AutoCAD, which is nearly universal. The CD for this plan includes the files in both SoftPlan and AutoCAD–ready .dwg, as well as in .pdf for easy viewing on your home or office computer.
