Description
This two–(or three–) bedroom home blends a variety of vernacular styles, allowing it to fit into a variety of neighborhoods and settings. It has a quaint and fairly low front, which widens and grows taller at the rear. Although it was originally designed for a sloping lot with a walkout basement, it can be adapted to a flat lot as well.
The covered front porch is spacious for sitting and relaxing, and has space for wood storage for the interior wood stove. You enter a mudroom, which has room for cubbies and a bench, and has a secondary door to the house, which helps to seal the home from cold air. Upon entering the interior door, there are an office/guest room and a powder room to the right. This can also be converted to the master bedroom by adding a shower to the powder room, if you prefer a master bedroom on the ground floor. As you continue down the hall to the living spaces, you pass a central stairwell. The main living area has an open floor plan, with a kitchen and dining area to the right, and a living room to the left. A wood–burning stove sits in the corner of the living room, and a door from the dining area leads to a wraparound deck for outdoor eating.
On the upper floor, the two bedrooms sit under sloped ceilings with dormers that bring in sunlight and views. The two bedrooms share a full bath that is also located on the upper floor.
If you choose to build a basement, the lower level has a layout for a mechanical room with storage, a future bedroom, family room, laundry room and bath. With doors from the family room to the backyard, the lower level has potential to be an in–law unit as well.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.
