Description
This modern home was designed to take advantage of the views to the rear of the house. The lot sloped towards the view, so both the upper and lower floors have an abundance of windows, and the lower level walks out to a long covered patio. A detached 2–car garage is linked to the house by a covered walkway, and it is deep enough (31') to have room for a workshop or storage space that can be accessed through a wide barn–style door facing the house.
After coming off the covered porch, you enter a foyer space with a coat closet and a niche with a built–in bench. The living room is just to the right, which is divided from the dining area by an optional two–sided gas fireplace. Glass doors and upper and lower windows along the living room and dining area look out to the partially covered deck and beyond. The ceiling rises from 10'6" to a soaring 15'3" at the rear windows.
A counter with a raised portion for eating separates the kitchen from the living and dining areas. A large walk–in pantry is located on one end of the kitchen, and on the other there is a mudroom which leads to the garage. As you walk past the living area, you pass a stairwell to the lower level of the house on your left and a powder room on your right, before getting to the master bedroom suite. The master bedroom has a large corner window facing the view, and the ceiling slopes from 10'6" up to 14'. The private full bath has two sinks, a large shower, and a laundry chute to the laundry room on the lower level.
The lower level can be accessed directly from the lower patio, or from the stairs on the main floor. The patio runs nearly the entire length of the house, and it's protected by the deck above it. There's a large media area on one end with an optional Murphy bed (illustrated with dotted lines). The laundry room is located across from the stairs. Next to it is a full bathroom that can be separated with a pocket door to create a powder room for guests. Two good–sized bedrooms open to a rec. room with a large storage closet. Extra storage space is also available in the mechanical room, and there is lots of open shelving under the stairs facing the lower entry.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a slab foundation. You can of course change it to a full or partial basement, or to a crawlspace, but you will need the help of a local builder or designer, and the new foundation plans should be reviewed by a structural engineer prior to construction.
