Description
This home was originally designed with a combination of wood shingles, wood siding, and wood trim on the exterior. The plans come with three slightly different front elevations for you to choose from, depending on your preferences.
After coming off of the covered porch, you enter a two–story foyer space with an open stairwell to the left, and a view of the upper balcony above. To the right is a formal dining room, which has an opening to a butler's pantry. As you go towards the great room straight ahead, you pass a powder room on the right. The great room has a vaulted two–story ceiling, and a fireplace flanked by built–ins. Windows look out to the backyard, and a glazed door walks out to a deck. The great room is open to the kitchen, which has a large center island with a raised eating counter, and a light–filled breakfast nook with views to the rear. From the kitchen, an opening accesses a rear hallway, which leads to a pantry, a laundry room, a coat closet, and a two–car garage. On the other side of the great room is the master suite. The master bedroom has a tray ceiling, and its own private access to the rear deck. The master bath has two vanity sinks, a private toilet, a tub, and a separate shower. From the master bath, you access the large walk–in closet.
After going up to the second floor, you find yourself on a balcony that looks down to the foyer and great room spaces. At the landing, a door on the left opens into attic storage space, and the door straight ahead opens into a bedroom suite, which has its own private full bath and walk–in closet. On the other side of the balcony, a small hall leads to two more bedrooms, a full bath, and a large bonus/recreation room, which has a dormer for additional sunlight and space.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.
Please Note
This house was originally designed for a family in Charlotte, North Carolina, who (understandably) do not want another house just like theirs built nearby. If you're planning to build within a 50–mile radius of downtown Charlotte, the designer needs to approve the location – which he nearly always does – before he'll grant a copyright release allowing you to legally build the house. Just give us the address or location of your property, via email or phone –– and we'll get back to you right away.
Electronic Format
These plans were drawn using a well–known and highly respected architectural design software program called SoftPlan (version 13). This software can export the same files in .dwg format, so they can also be modified by anyone who uses AutoCAD, which is nearly universal. The CD for this plan includes the files in both SoftPlan and AutoCAD–ready .dwg, as well as in .pdf for easy viewing on your home or office computer.
