Description
This cozy cabin has a small and simple footprint, and makes use of eco–friendly materials. It was originally designed with a metal roof, which is ideal if you are also interested in rainwater collection.
The generous entry porch creates an outdoor space to sit and relax. You enter a foyer space with room for a bench and closet. An open lavatory sink is located next to the full bath, but you can easily switch the linen closet for a smaller sink, if you prefer the sink in the bathroom. The living room has a vaulted ceiling, and is open to the kitchen, with an open central space for the dining table. A woodstove is located in the center of the room, which warms the entire cabin.
The upstairs balcony leads to a large, open loft bedroom space, which has a ceiling that vaults from 6' at the edges to 11' in the middle.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed with a pier foundation. You can of course change it to a full or partial basement, to a crawlspace, or to a slab foundation, but you will need the help of a local builder or designer, and the new foundation plans should be reviewed by a structural engineer prior to construction.
