Description

Originally designed for an energy efficient specialty builder, this two–story craftsman style house won an award from Efficiency Vermont. Red cedar shingles and decorative trim provide a slightly rustic look to this exceptional home. The many windows and expansive feeling on the first floor prove that a house need not be a windowless box to meet high standard energy codes, and leave a small carbon footprint.

After coming off of the covered entry porch, you find yourself in an oversized entry hall, with a central stairway straight ahead. To the right are a mudroom, a large coat closet, and a door to a two–car garage. As you walk towards the open living areas, you pass a powder room that has room for a separate laundry area. Glazed doors and windows flood the living areas with sunlight, and provide views to the outdoor deck and beyond. This side of the house was originally oriented to the south, so overhangs on this side were specifically designed to allow winter sunlight deep into the house, while shielding the interior spaces from direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the summer. A deck is located off of the dining room, making it convenient to dine outdoors during warmer weather. The dining room is open to both the kitchen and living room, with large openings framed with wood trim. A large stone fireplace hearth is centrally located in the living room on an interior wall between it and the master suite. The master bedroom has three large windows that look out to the side yard, and three more facing the rear, that fill the room with natural light during the day. The master bath features both a large soaking tub and a separate shower, as well as two vanity sinks.

At the stairway to the upper level, there is a mid–landing that has stairs to a bonus family room located over the garage. The large open room has windows that look out to three sides, and would be big enough to accommodate an office area, as well as a family/recreation room. At the top of the landing, a hall leads to three additional bedrooms and a spacious full bath.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.

Please Note
Due to licensing agreements, this home may not be built in the states of Massachusetts and Vermont.
