Description

This distinctive home features the lines and finishes of a classic craftsman house. Its distinguishing features include a large courtyard that the side of the house wraps around, an ideally located private office just off the entryway, an attached two–car garage at the rear for alley access, and a well–lit stair tower to the upper floor.

After coming off of the covered entry, you enter the foyer space, with a stairway, a coat closet, and a powder room to the left, and a den/office to the right. Straight ahead is the living room, which has a centrally located fireplace on one wall that is flanked by built–ins and windows. Full height windows and a glazed door look out to the side courtyard space. If your lot doesn't happen to be flat, you could easily build a deck in the courtyard space, for outdoor lounging. A large opening from the living room leads to a dining area, which has windows that look out to the courtyard space as well, and is open to the kitchen. The 'L' shaped kitchen has a large center island for additional workspace, and a pantry closet. From the kitchen, a small rear hallway leads to a laundry room, a two–car garage, and the master suite. The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, lots of windows to let in natural light and views, and a door that walks out to the central courtyard space. The master bath features a private toilet room, a walk–in closet, a tub, and a separate shower.

The stair tower to the upper floor has windows along three walls, making the stairwell sunny and bright during the day. The upper landing has a desk beneath a window, and it opens up into a large central space for playing that could also function as a media room. Two additional bedrooms, each with its own walk–in closet, and a full bath are located on this floor.

Due to the site conditions, the original home was built with the attached garage facing the rear. This can be easily modified to fit your particular site though, by moving the garage door opening to the side. If you decide to build a detached garage, you may consider making this space into a recreation/family room, or using it to expand the master bedroom.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.
