Description
This home is a variation of our Classic Bungalow, with four bedrooms instead of three, and a small library space instead of a den that allows the master bedroom to be located on the ground floor. This house is a fine example of a classic craftsman bungalow, displaying its craftsman detailing in both its handsome exterior and continuing throughout the entire interior of the home. The generous front covered porch spans the entire width of the home, and includes timber posts atop oversized tapered columns, timber frame detailing, and a vaulted ceiling over the entry door.
After entering the home from the covered porch, you see a stairwell straight ahead with a window on the first stair landing, which peeks into the breakfast nook on the other side. A coat closet is directly to the right with room for a built–in or a bench located next to it. A large opening at the left leads to an open living room with a center fireplace that's flanked by transom windows over built–ins. A wide opening leads to a central dining room that is open to both the kitchen and the library space. The library has a wide window bench that would be an ideal location to sit and read. The gourmet kitchen features a large center island, a nook for a built–in dish hutch or shelving, and a breakfast nook with peek–a–boo windows that look out to the front entry and to the living room. A mudroom at the rear of the house has a powder room, shelving, a coat closet, a bench, and a door that walks out to the backyard. The master bedroom is located off of the mudroom and it includes a walk–in closet, while the master bath has room for both a shower and a separate soaking tub.
As you head upstairs, a window at the lower landing allows sunlight to shine in. The shed dormers on the second floor expand and open up the upper spaces, and bring in lots of natural light to the rooms. Bedrooms 1 and 3 have portions of the ceiling at the end walls that follow the slope of the roof. The upper landing opens up to a large playroom/reading area that provides access to three bedrooms, the shared full bath, and the laundry room. All the rooms and spaces on this floor have excellent views.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.
