Description
The wood timber details at both the interior and exterior of the house combine beautifully with the steeply pitched roofs with dormers on both sides. Both door entries at the front and the rear are graced with an arched header, and once inside, the hearth room and the screened porch have vaulted ceilings with exposed wood timbers.
With a house width of 46', this home would work well on a variety of lot sizes. After coming in from the covered entry porch, you enter a formal foyer space with a stairwell. To the right there are double doors that open onto a study with windows along two walls. As you walk towards the hearth room, you pass a vestibule on the right side with a coat closet and a powder room. The hearth room ceiling slopes at the sides and has a flat ceiling at the center with a height of 18'8". The room has a fireplace insert with a built–in media cabinet at one end of the room, and the exposed wood trusses make the room feel more intimate. Doors on either side of the hearth wall open into a screened porch that also has a vaulted ceiling with a height of 16'10" and exposed wood trusses. Two doors from the screened porch walk out to an exterior deck.
A 14'6" wide opening divides the hearth room from the open kitchen and dining area. The "L" shaped kitchen has a large center island for additional counter space and a raised bar for eating. Two walls of windows around the dining area flood the room with natural light. Both the kitchen and dining room have ceilings that vault to 11'.
A pocket door divides the hearth room from a mudroom. The mudroom has space for a bench and cubicles, and accesses a laundry room and a two–car garage. A pair of doors from the hearth room opens into a master suite hallway, instead of directly into the master bedroom, which provides more privacy. The master bedroom has a door to the screened porch, a walk–in closet, and an 11' flat ceiling that slope down at the sides. The master bath is located on the other side of the small hall and features two vanity sinks, a tub, and a toilet room with a separate shower that can be closed off with a pocket door.
The upstairs landing has a curved balcony that looks down to the hearth room, and has a wide balcony. On this floor there are two more bedrooms that share a full bath, and a laundry room with a separate storage room.
If you choose to build the basement level, there are two more bedrooms, a full bath, an exercise room, a large mechanical/utility room, and an open family room. The family room has a fireplace insert to warm the room during cooler weather, a wet bar, and a wine cellar.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.
