Description

This home is featured in the highly acclaimed book, "The Not So Big House - A Blueprint for the Way We Really Live". Designed as a steep roofed cottage of stucco and wood, with a simple plan that contains the basic activities of daily life within a single great-room. The gabled forms offer opportunities for a open volume over the living room, a tiny play loft at the peak of the roof between the childrens' bedrooms, and a treehouse space shaded by awnings perched above the garage.
The house is penetrated by a trellised corridor which extends through the house to the front and back, to views of the wetland, ponds and woods beyond. The home feels like a treehouse and features a great-room design where you could relax, cook, eat, read, and gather around a hearth.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.
