Description
As you'll see from the photos, the rear and one side of this handsome home are composed almost exclusively of glass on each level. They provide unlimited views and sunlight during the day, and an almost magical appearance at night. A round breakfast nook surrounded by windows, and varying ceiling heights on the main level, are just two of its many unique features.
The wrap–around covered front porch is supported by three elegant columns. As you enter the house, a coat closet and powder room are conveniently located in the entryway, to your left, while on your right an open archway leads to the formal dining room. It's a spacious 12' x 14', and two large elegant windows look out to the front of the house. The ceilings in both the entryway and the living room beyond it are set at a dramatic 19'. Incredible views and abundant natural light through lower and upper windows at the end of the room and at the landing to the upper level are the first things you notice as you enter this lovely home. A glazed door provides access to a large half–round deck at the rear of the house, and there's a cozy window seat at the stair landing.
From the living room, sliding glass doors open to a sunken den with a 12' high ceiling, and a fireplace flanked by built–in shelves facing you as you enter. Like the rest of the living spaces in this house, it also has great views to the rear. The kitchen and family room are located on the other side of the house. The kitchen features an extra large island with a four–burner top and a raised breakfast bar. Again the views from here are great as you look to and through the family room and the casual dining nook. The nook is circular, protrudes from the main part of the house, and the outer wall is composed mainly of glass.
Next to the kitchen is a sunken family room that features a beautiful curved fireplace, corner windows, and tall windows flanking a glazed door that leads to the rear deck. Arched openings lead from the kitchen through a butler's pantry to the dining room, and to a mudroom/laundry room that opens to a 3–car garage.
The open stairs and a rail at the top look down into the living room. Bedrooms 2 and 3 on this level share a cleverly designed bath area where each has its own vanity and walk–in closet but share a private tub and toilet. Bedroom 3 has an 8' ceiling that slopes toward the end walls, and is opened up with dormers on both sides of the room. An elegant master suite occupies the remainder of the second floor. The bedroom features a 10' flat ceiling (9' at the walls), large windows in two directions, and a fireplace in one corner, while the bath features a large shower with a unique glass surround, a large tub beneath corner windows, two completely separated sink areas, and a private toilet. An enormous walk–in closet has a conveniently located stacked washer and dryer.
If you choose to build the lower level you can add 1,400 sf of living space. As designed, it includes a large entertainment area with a full bar that looks out and walks out to a patio at the rear of the house and has its own powder room, an elegant guest suite that has not only a full bath and walk–in closet but also a round sitting area that matches the kitchen nook above it, and a spacious home theater.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.
Electronic Format
These plans were drawn using a well–known and highly respected architectural design software program called SoftPlan (version 14). This software can export the same files in .dwg format, so they can also be modified by anyone who uses AutoCAD, which is nearly universal. The CD for this plan includes the files in both SoftPlan and AutoCAD–ready .dwg, as well as in .pdf for easy viewing on your home or office computer.
