Description

This gorgeous and utterly unique home almost defies description! The multiple roof sections are covered with either metal or tile, and the outer walls are covered with v–grooved stucco and synthetic stone, but these words fail to describe the impact that these materials make on the overall appearance of the house. Built on property that slopes to the front in the direction of the view, this is truly one of the most unique homes we've ever seen!

A graceful stair leads up to the right–of–center entrance on the main level. The stairs bring you to a concrete deck that wraps around the entire front of the house. You pass between two elegant round columns that rise nearly 18' to the roofline before arriving at the entryway. A pair of doors open to a foyer that vaults to 16'6", and a couple of stairs bring you up to the living areas of the house. The magnificent great room and adjacent dining room are just to your left, while the gourmet kitchen is just to your right.

The great room features a barrel ceiling that arches from 21' at the edges to just over 24' in the center! The curved wall at the front of the house is comprised primarily of glass, with the lower windows and sliding glass doors looking out to the covered deck and views beyond it, and the upper windows above the deck roof providing additional views and plenty of natural light. The homeowners chose to make the interior walls white so that the eye is drawn to all the incredible architectural shapes and details.

Opposite the curved glass wall in the great room are arched openings flanking a double–sided fireplace that lead to a raised formal dining room. Also open to the great room is a space for a pool table and another for play. The play area includes a circular area with windows all around with a ceiling height of 12', and a powder room in one corner. Sliding glass doors in the billiards area lead to a large concrete patio at the rear of the house, and double doors in the play area open to the concrete deck at the front. Stairs next to them lead to the upper level, while two sets of stairs behind the dining room merge at a landing before leading to the lower level.

The kitchen on the other side of the house includes a huge island with a built–in sink and a curved breakfast bar. A round room identical to the play area on the opposite side of the house is used as a breakfast nook just off the kitchen, and also has a ceiling height of 12'. Arched openings lead past a butler's station and a large walk–in pantry to the dining room with a 9'6" ceiling, and another arched opening leads to a mudroom with a large sports equipment closet, a powder room, access to the rear patio, and finally to a 4–car garage. With the exception of the great rooms, most of the ceilings on this level are set at 10'.

The bedrooms are located on the lower level. The master suite occupies the center area, with two additional bedrooms flanking it on either end. A curved wall of windows in the master bedroom looks out to a covered concrete patio and the view beyond it. The suite features a truly enormous closet area, and an equally large bath area with a soaking tub, a shower, two separate sinks, and a private toilet. The other two bedrooms include round areas matching those on the main level, and each has its own walk–in closet and full bath. A home theater is located on this level, as is a large laundry room and a powder room. Most of the ceilings on this level are set at an impressive 10'6".

The upper level includes a loft area above the billiards area, and an open den above the dining room. The den has a large bay window facing the rear of the house (for views in both directions), and its own fireplace. It also features the same barrel ceiling as the great room, with a skylight for even more natural light.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a basement foundation. However, if you prefer a crawlspace or a slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you. If the basement design is not displayed in the Floor Plans, it's because it is unfinished.

Electronic Format
These plans were drawn using a well–known and highly respected architectural design software program called SoftPlan (version 14). This software can export the same files in .dwg format, so they can also be modified by anyone who uses AutoCAD, which is nearly universal. The CD for this plan includes the files in both SoftPlan and AutoCAD–ready .dwg, as well as in .pdf for easy viewing on your home or office computer.
