Description
This third variation of the extremely popular Luxury Living plan was designed at the request of a client who wanted a more spacious master suite with a sitting area and bigger walk–in closets, an enlarged laundry room, an elevator, and an additional powder room. The main floor plan is reversed, and with the removal of the library and two bedrooms from the original plan, the master suite now takes up the full left wing of the house. The optional lower level now accommodates a guest suite as well as an in–law suite, and an additional two–car garage, which makes a total of 6 car stalls available! With the upper level option 3, the main and upper levels feature three bedrooms, three full baths, and two half–baths.
As the photos of the original home make clear, this is a truly breathtaking home, inside and out. The exterior design is as unique as it is beautiful. No one can look at this house – day or night – without being moved in some way! This is luxury living at its finest, with sumptuous materials and dramatic spaces throughout. This stunning home opens in the rear to a curved deck with a dramatic barrel roof above it, and a covered patio below it. Abundant glass doors and windows light the interiors, which are detailed with wood beams and wood columns. The prominent curve of the deck is repeated as a design element in many parts of the house, such as the great room rear wall, the staircases, the upper balcony, framing the entry and the larger windows, and the planters around the exterior.
Upon entering the foyer from the covered porch, through the tall stained glass and wood double doors, you find yourself in a two–story space with a view into and through the great room, and to the balcony on the upper floor. There is an open, elegantly curved stairwell on either side, which provides views to the floor below as well, but if you prefer an elevator, there is now one to the left of the foyer. Straight ahead, wood columns frame the opening to the great room, which has a ceiling that vaults from over 23' at the sides to over 27' in the center, and a curved wall of lower and upper windows and glass doors at the rear. The doors lead to the curved outdoor deck, which has a barrel roof that covers the center portion of it. On one side is an outdoor fireplace, and on the other is an outdoor grill, providing a perfect space to entertain in warmer weather. On one side of the great room is an impressive stone fireplace hearth that reaches the two–story ceiling height, and the other side is open to the kitchen and breakfast nook. Windows and glass doors light the kitchen and breakfast area, and a pair of sliding doors provides direct access to the rear deck. The spacious gourmet kitchen has room for a large refrigerator and a separate freezer, and a center island provides additional counter space as well as a breakfast bar for eating. Next to the kitchen is a walk–in pantry, a dining room framed by wood columns, and a centrally located powder room. A small hallway from the kitchen leads to a huge laundry room, a powder room, a coat closet and a four–car garage.
The left wing of the house is devoted to a luxurious master suite with a three–sided fireplace to warm the room, and a sitting area with windows that look out to the rear. A vestibule accesses the enlarged walk–in closets and master bath. The closets are divided in two spaces, and the 'her' side – at 13'7"x23' – is larger than most bedrooms! The master bath features a private toilet/urinal room, two separate vanities, a shower, and a separate whirlpool tub that sits under a curved bay window.
Upstairs, a curved central bridge looks down to the great room on one side and the foyer on the other. Under the sloped ceilings, there is an open office loft on each side of the bridge. The left office has an optional fireplace, creating a cozy environment, and the right office space has a door leading to a covered viewing platform. As you can see from the floor plans, either or both of these spaces can be built as bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
After walking down the curved stairwell to the lower level, you enter a large open recreation room with a fireplace. Glass doors and windows line the rear wall to bring in sunlight and outdoor views. Located off of the open rec room are a media area to the left, a storage room that would make an ideal wine cellar if needed, a powder room, and a home theater. The left wing accommodates an in–law or guest suite with a kitchenette, a closet for a stacked washer/dryer, and a large private full bath. The bath features two vanity sinks, a private toilet, a tub, a separate shower, and a walk–in closet. The guest suite to the right of the rec room has ample closet space and a private full bath. Storage rooms are located on both wings of this level. Ceiling heights vary on this level, from 8'5" to 9'9" in the bedrooms, media area, and a portion of the rec room.
