Description
This is a classic farmhouse in look and style, but with a more modern floor plan. The plans call for stained clapboard and a bit of stucco on the exterior, and fiberglass shingles on the roof, but you could of course clad it with anything you like. Its features include a screened porch off the dining area, a home office that could be used for other purposes, and a private roof deck off the master bedroom.
As you enter the house, there are stairs on the left to an optional unfinished basement that could be a coat closet if you choose not to build the lower level, a window on the right to let light into the entryway, and a short hall that leads past a powder room on the way to the dining area. A pair of glazed doors on the left open to a screened porch that opens to a side deck that wraps around the house to a larger area at the rear, while a door on the opposite wall opens to an office that could function equally well as a craft room or a guest bedroom.
You descend two steps to enter the sunken living room (which could of course not be sunken by simply telling your builder). The ceiling is vaulted down the middle, crossed by four exposed beams, and a fireplace flanked by large windows faces you as you enter the room. Both side walls have three large picture windows, adding to the light and the views this room enjoys.
Next to the office/craft room is a multi–purpose mudroom area. There are two good–sized closets with a stacked washer and dryer next to them, a doggie shower with a countertop next to it for folding clothes, and a door to the outside. A laundry chute from the upper level drops clothes next to the outer closet.
All three bedrooms are located on the upper level, with the master suite on one side of the house and two additional bedrooms on the other side. The master bedroom has windows on all three outer walls, and a glazed door that opens to a lovely private deck. The bath has room for a tub and a separate shower, two vanities, and corner windows above the tub. The two other bedrooms have windows on two walls for light and ventilation, and they share a full bath.
Should you choose to construct the lower level, there's room for a recreation area with a fireplace at one end, a spare bedroom, a full bath (in the room identified as "Mechanical" on the floor plans we display), and space for storage and mechanical equipment.
