Description
This charming home emphasizes traditional design and beautiful detailing. The floor plan is simple and exceptionally functional, in keeping with its classic form. A long hallway that runs down the entire length of the house provides easy access to both the living spaces and the master suite, while the upper level features two bedroom suites with a shared open area for study or play.
The covered entry porch – supported by four classic columns – is 8' deep, providing an inviting space to relax outside the home. As you enter the foyer, there's a stairway straight ahead and a spacious living room just to the right. A central fireplace warms the room, and serves as a divider between the living and dining rooms. The ceiling in these rooms – and throughout the main level – is set at a lofty 10', and the original homeowners chose to have them constructed of wood. A pair of doors in the dining area, with transom windows above them, open to a large screened porch with a vaulted ceiling. The porch has another door into the breakfast room/kitchen area, which makes it easily accessible for outdoor dining.
As you walk down the entry hall you pass a powder room, a coat closet, a niche for a small wet bar or other built–in, and a cozy den. Further along, the hall opens to the kitchen area on the right, and a door to the master bedroom on the left. The kitchen features both a center island and a peninsula countertop (with an eating bar on one side) that separates it from the light– and view–filled breakfast nook. The nook has windows along three walls, and two doors that open to either the screened porch or an outdoor deck at the rear of the house. At the end of the hallway, before coming to the rear door, there is a mudroom/laundry room that also has room for a second pantry cabinet and an extra refrigerator and freezer.
The open master bedroom has windows that look out to both the rear and side of the house. A short hall leads past two separate walk–in closets on the way to the bath area. The master bath features two vanity sinks, a Jacuzzi tub, and a large shower.
The upper landing opens up to a central sitting area, and the two bedrooms on this level each have a walk–in closet and its own private full bath. Bedroom 2 has windows facing in three directions, while the windows in bedroom 3 face the front and side of the house.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.
