Description

The plans identify the "front" of the house as the side you see when looking at the garage doors, with the entry on the left side. However, it would make just as much sense to call the entry side the front, giving you options when situating it on your property. Since the location of the main entry is typically referred to as the front of the house, we will use this wall as the front in this description.

Upon entering the house, there's a coat closet just to your right, a stairway to the optional lower level straight ahead, and the open living areas are to your left. The ceiling rises from 8'4" on the far (rear) wall to a lofty 11' at the front. There are three large picture windows along the front and rear that provide abundant light and views into the living area.

There's plenty of space between the living room and the kitchen to accommodate a large dining room table. A large island between the kitchen and the dining area has a raised counter for casual dining or serving, a prep sink on top, and a dishwasher below. An opening at the rear of the kitchen leads to the laundry, while a short hallway on the left leads past a powder room to a door that opens to the covered patio.

Across from the powder room another door opens to a mudroom and a garage. The garage has a 10'–wide door for a full–sized vehicle, and a 6'–wide door for something smaller. The smaller space would make a perfect place for a workshop, and there's a large storage space behind it. If you need a two–car garage, this is a simple modification that your builder can make.

The rest of the main level is devoted to the master suite. The ceilings rise here just as they do in the living area, rising from 7'6" at the rear (over the head of the bed) to 11'6" over the sinks in the bathroom. Built–in shelves in the bedroom flank a doorway into the master bath and a walk–in closet. The bath features a bump–out with a soaking tub set beneath a window, a separate shower, a private toilet, and two sinks separated by a window.

If you choose to build the lower level, it's designed to have two bedrooms with walk–in closets that share a full bath. There's also an open living area with a built–in bar and an optional gas stove that would be ideal for entertaining. The ceiling on this level is set at a lofty 10'.

Please Note:
This house was designed as an energy–efficient home, with insulated concrete form exterior walls, closed web roof joists with spray insulation, and double–pane glazing. Roof overhangs are designed to minimize solar heat gain in the summer and allow natural day lighting throughout the year.
