Description
You enter this small rustic vacation home via a conditioned breezeway connecting the garage to the house. As you'll see from the floor plans, it's hard to determine which side is the "front" of this house – is it the side with the screened porch on the right, or the side with the porch on the left? This allows you to have choices when orienting the house on your property. In the following description, we've assumed the latter.
As you step inside, you enter a large open space that contains the kitchen, dining space and the family room, all of which sit beneath a ceiling that vaults in the middle to a dramatic 22'.
The two outer walls of the dining space are lined with tall side–by–side windows, so the entire living area enjoys great views to the rear and side. The kitchen also has a pair of windows above the sinks for light and views, and a narrow window next to the fireplace provides a view of folks entering the house. The fireplace is quite large, and can of course be enjoyed throughout the living area. A door off the family room provides access to a screened porch with views to the front, side and rear that's an ideal spot for outdoor dining or relaxing on warmer days and nights.
The other side of the house is devoted to the Couple's Realm. The bedroom has views to the rear and side, a bath with two sinks and a large shower, and above it there's a loft space accessed by stairs off the entryway. Shed dormers on either side of the loft extend the space, and provide natural light through small windows. A railing on this level looks down to the living spaces of the house.
Should you choose to construct the lower level, there are two bedrooms that share a full bath, a rumpus room, and a long room that the original homeowners used as an exercise area.
