Description

Gatehouse is a one bedroom passive solar strawbale guest cottage. High ceilings, shed–style roof and curved layout make this an unusual combination of natural earthy materials and modern techno–architecture. It features ceilings that angle from 8' to 13' the length of the house.

This home also features a radiant heat stained concrete floor, thick strawbale walls with deeply recessed windows. The front of this cottage is primarily a wall of windows, bringing outside light fully into this home. The floor plan is really just a curved rectangle making Gatehouse easy build.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a slab foundation. You can of course change it to a full or partial basement, or to a crawlspace, but you will need the help of a local builder or designer, and the new foundation plans should be reviewed by a structural engineer prior to construction.
