Description
Reminiscent of a French country cottage, this is an elegant passive solar home, which blends classic details with today's modern comforts. Roof decks and multi-paned windows and doors grace the exterior to warm the entire home, including the solarium.
The entry path to the home winds through rose gardens and brings you to a covered porch. Once inside the entry foyer, there is a stairwell straight ahead, and the kitchen/dining area to the right. The kitchen is bright with plenty of windows, including a bay window. An arched opening separates the kitchen from the dining room, providing views to the stone hearth, which houses a wood stove. A door from the dining room leads to a spacious laundry/utility room, and a cooler room. From the utility room, you may enter the central bathroom, which has another door connecting it to the entry foyer. On the other side of the foyer is a spacious living room with an open beam ceiling. A central fireplace and wood box sit within a tiled hearth on one side of the room. Off of the living room is a storage room, which connects to the attached garage. On the other side of the living room is a small hallway that leads to a guest room, a study, and a solarium. The study features its own wood stove and shares a full bath with the guest room.
The upper floor has a sitting room and a master suite, and takes advantage of the roofline with vaulted ceilings. The master bath offers both a shower and a claw foot tub, and connects to the walk–in closet. A large sun deck is off of the master bedroom, and a smaller covered deck is off of the sitting room.
Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.
