Description

This is a slightly smaller version of the original Bay Wood plan. Like the original, this home has large windows located to take advantage of multiple views from almost all the rooms. In this version, the small living room, and bedroom 3 above it (as they appear in the floor plans for the original) have been eliminated, while the study on the upper level has been converted to replace bedroom 3, resulting in a more compact floor plan.

As you approach, the unique rooflines and different sized windows make it clear that this is no ordinary house. The entry is unique as well, with the front door set at a 45–degree angle, bringing you directly into the living room. Stairs to the upper level are on your right, while the coat closet on your left is one of two in this area. Like all of the rooms on the main level, the ceiling in the living room is set at a comfortable 9'. Windows line both outer walls, providing great views to the front and side.

A wide opening leads to the family room, the kitchen, and a sunny breakfast nook. The family room has a fireplace flanked by windows in the far corner, additional windows for views to the side, and sliding glass doors that open to a deck area next to the living room. Please note when you look at the photos that the homeowners changed the windowed wall facing the side to sliding glass doors, and added a glass door that opens to the rear of the house.

The only thing separating the family room and the kitchen is an angled counter with a raised bar for casual eating or serving. The kitchen features a wide trio of windows above the sinks, a center island with a vegetable sink on top, and a built–in desk behind the second coat closet. The breakfast nook off the kitchen is surrounded on three sides by windows.

A pocket door off the kitchen opens to a vestibule that provides access to a powder room, a mudroom with an open pantry and a door that opens to the rear, stairs to the optional (unfinished) basement, and a two–car garage.

At the top of the stairs to the upper level, a door on the right opens to a bedroom and full bath that would make a great guestroom space. Also off the landing there are doors to a laundry and a good–sized storage closet. A hallway leads past bedrooms 2 and 3 and the full bath they share on its way to the master suite. The master bedroom has a ceiling that vaults to 12' down the center, windows on all three outer walls, and a small private balcony. There's a large walk–in closet, and the bath features a tub beneath a corner of windows, a separate shower, and two vanities.
