Description

The floor plan of this beautifully crafted home steps back towards the rear, which allows more windows for sunlight and views. As you walk through the front courtyard, the lower roof lines and the design of spaces create a sense of intimacy in a truly spacious home. The upper floor has potential for expansion, providing an alternative for those that may want to add on in the future.

After going through the decorative wrought iron gate, you enter an enclosed courtyard with a fountain, before coming to the covered front porch. The foyer space is two stories high, with views to the balcony above. A pair of columns frames the view to the gallery space and great room straight ahead. The gallery space is enclosed with a barrel ceiling above, and is open to the kitchen on the right side and a morning room on the left. Another pair of columns frames the view to the great room beyond. A center fireplace is flanked by built–ins on either side, and windows look out to the open terrace. To the right of the foyer is a vestibule that leads to a powder room, a pantry, and a dining/sun room. A door from the dining room leads to a covered terrace, which would be perfect for outdoor dining. From the vestibule, a rear hall leads to a mud room space, a three–car garage, and a laundry room. On the other side of the foyer is the master room suite. The master bath is an owner's dream, with a private toilet room, a separate shower, and a vaulted domed ceiling above a whirlpool tub. A pair of doors from the bath leads to a huge walk–in closet, which is a room in itself.

After coming upstairs, a bedroom and a shared full bath are to the left and a large game room is straight ahead. As you walk around the balcony, you have views to the foyer space below from all four sides. A third and fourth bedroom share a full bath, and one of the bedrooms features a 15' vaulted ceiling. A window seat is located over the front porch, giving you views to the front courtyard. For those that may want additional space on the upper floor, there is a hallway that leads to a room that is built over the three–car garage.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.

Please Note
This house was originally designed for a couple in Charlotte, North Carolina, who (understandably) do not want another house just like theirs built nearby. If you're planning to build within a 50–mile radius of downtown Charlotte, the designer needs to approve the location before he'll grant a copyright release allowing you to legally build the house. Just give us the address or location of your property, via email or phone –– and we'll get back to you right away.

Electronic Format
These plans were drawn using a well–known and highly respected architectural design software program called SoftPlan (version 13). This software can export the same files in .dwg format, so they can also be modified by anyone who uses AutoCAD, which is nearly universal. The CD for this plan includes the files in both SoftPlan and AutoCAD–ready .dwg, as well as in .pdf for easy viewing on your home or office computer.
