Description

This beautiful wood–crafted home was originally built in Florida, and as you can see from the photos, it exudes a sense of island living at its best! Covered porches at the front and rear of the house, on both the main and upper levels, provide four unique spaces to sit and enjoy the outdoors, and to take in the architectural details that make this house so charming. The wooden columns that support the upper porch and the roof create a symmetrical order that is complemented by the decorative wood brackets, while the cupola on the third level provides an element of surprise. This home was also recognized by Professional Builder, who gave it a "Best in American Living Award".

After coming off of the entry deck and entering the foyer, the living room is just to your right. The opening to the living room is framed with elegant square columns, and the room itself features a beautiful coffered ceiling with three pairs of French doors that open onto the front porch. Straight ahead from the foyer, (optional) floor–to–ceiling sliding glass doors open to the formal dining room, which also features a coffered ceiling. All of the rooms on this main level have 10' ceilings. Next to the dining room there is a staircase to the upper levels, a built–in media/audio cabinet, and a short hallway that accesses a utility closet, a full bath and Bedroom 1. Bedroom 1 has a walk–in closet and two pairs of French doors that open onto the rear screened porch.

From the dining room, square columns separate the room from the kitchen. The original owners decided to build a half–wall, as you can see in the photos, which delineates the rooms nicely, while still retaining an open feeling with views. The efficient kitchen has a large center island with a sink and an extended counter for eating. Across from the kitchen there is a utility room with a counter and extra sink, and a pass–through window that opens to the rear screened porch for easy access. This makes the rear porch an ideal place to dine or entertain guests. The utility room can be easily modified to suit your needs, and can be used as a laundry room (as the original homeowners did, installing a stacked washer and dryer in one corner) and/or a walk–in pantry. A door from the kitchen opens onto a 10'-deep screened porch that spans the width of the house. The original homeowners modified the plan (as shown in the plan photos) by opening the wall between the kitchen and back porch, creating a bright and airy breakfast nook with windows that look out to the side and rear.

On the second floor, the master suite occupies the front half of the house. It has three pairs of French doors that open onto a private covered porch that looks out to the front. Sliding doors open into a walk–in closet on the other side of the room. The master bath features a tub surrounded by upper windows, a separate shower, a private toilet room, and two separate vanity sinks. On the other side of this level there are two more bedroom suites, each with its own private full bath and walk–in closet. Bedrooms 2 and 3 also have French doors that open onto a covered porch at the rear. All the rooms on this level feature 9' ceilings.

The third level has an office/recreation room with ceilings that slope up from 5' at the edges to a flat 7' section. There is room for two 6'–long back–to–back desks facing the walls, next to built–in bookshelves. Four windows on either side provide lots of natural light. A mechanical closet is located off of the stair landing to the upper cupola. The upper cupola is surrounded by glass windows on all four sides, and has a vaulted ceiling beneath the hipped roof. This sunny room with multiple views is sure to be a favorite for both adults and children!

This set of plans also comes with a design for a detached two–car garage. The garage matches the aesthetics of the main house, and features curved bracket details in the same style as the main house.
