You could of course clad it in anything you like, but the plans for this energy–efficient two–story home call for barn wood siding and a corrugated metal roof, which give it a rustic appearance; however, its simplicity and clean lines give it a modern edge. The partially detached master suite provides a private sanctuary that could be added in a second phase if desired.

After entering the home off of the covered porch, you find yourself in an open living area with the living room to the right and the kitchen and dining to the left, but the open floor plan provides flexibility in how you choose to lay out the space. A staircase to the upper and (optional) lower floors is straight ahead, with a coat closet located next to it. Shelving for media is built into a wall facing the living room, and behind this wall is a powder room with a stacking washer/dryer. The U–shaped kitchen has a corner pantry, and a counter spans the entire depth of the house along one wall to provide plenty of workspace. The rooms on this level have a ceiling height of 8'7".

A vestibule located next to the entry door connects to the master suite, and also has a door to a covered porch that wraps around the side to the rear of the house. A patio next to the porch includes an outdoor kitchen area with both a fireplace and a fire pit to enjoy hours of relaxation and entertaining. The master bedroom has windows that look out to the side porch, and the large master bath has two sinks, a tub, a separate shower, built–in shelving, and a walk–in closet with room for a stacking washer/dryer. Both the master bedroom and bath feature a 9'5" ceiling height.

A window located at the stair landing brings in natural light to the upper staircase. The upper landing opens up to an open office/loft space with windows that look out to the front. There is one bedroom on the upper level with a large walk–in closet, and a generous–sized full bath with two vanity sinks, a tub, and a separate shower. The ceilings upstairs are set at 8'3".

If you choose to build the lower level, it would make an ideal in–law or guest suite. It features a bedroom with a walk–in closet, a full bath, a living area, a bar/kitchenette area, and a utility room.

These plans come with a detached oversized one–car garage with a storage room and space for a workshop or additional storage. It could easily be modified to accommodate two cars.

Please Note
The plans for this home call for insulated concrete form (ICF) exterior walls. However, they can easily be changed to 2x6 stud walls by your builder or a design professional. Be sure to confirm this with your builder prior to purchasing the plans.
