Description

This charming Craftsman–style home was originally built in the Portland area, and at less than 32' wide, it would be ideal for those with narrow lots. The home is finished with classic wood details and finishes at both the exterior and interior that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The jogs in the exterior walls create intimate exterior and sunny interior spaces, while creating a nice exterior visual affect from all angles.

The front covered porch is framed with square columns, and because it's 10'6" deep there is plenty of room for outdoor furniture to sit and relax. After entering the foyer, there is a staircase to the upper level to the right, and on the left there's an opening framed with two round columns that looks into a living room. The living room is bright from the windows that look out to the front and from the windows that flank the central fireplace. An opening from the living room leads to a spacious kitchen with windows above the sink area that look out to the side, and a central island with an extended counter for eating. The kitchen is located directly across from a dining room that has windows that look and open out to the side. The staircase to the optional lower level is located here as well. The ceilings in the living spaces are all set at a lofty 10'.

As you continue down the hallway gallery the ceiling lowers to 8', and you pass a large walk–in pantry and a powder room on the right, and across from them are sliding glass doors that open out to a side deck/patio space. The semi–private outdoor space is hidden from view in the front, and extends the living space of the home. At the end of the gallery, a door opens into a mudroom/laundry room with a walk–in closet, a utility sink, room for built–ins, and a door to the two–car garage (which has an area for a dog bath and an accessible attic for storage).

On the upper level there are two bedrooms (one of which – bedroom 3 – could also work as an office) that share a full bath, a linen closet, and the master suite. The master bedroom has windows that look out to the front and side, and has a good–sized walk–in closet. The master bath features a private toilet room, two vanity sinks, a tub located below a window, and a separate shower with a bench. The master bedroom and bedroom 2 have a 12'–high flat ceiling that slopes down at the sides, and bedroom 3 has an 11'–7" flat ceiling that slopes at the sides. While the plans show three steps that walk down to bedroom 3, it would be quite easy to eliminate the steps, which would in effect raise the ceiling in the rooms located directly below it.

If you choose to build the lower level, the stairs lead you down to a hallway with an opening into a large and open family room. A fourth bedroom, a full bath, and a closet under the stairs are located here, as well as a large mechanical/storage room.
