Description

The covered front porch spans the entire front of the house before wrapping around each side. It is 8' deep, so there's plenty of room for furniture, and it can be accessed from inside via three pairs of doors – in the foyer, the dining room, and the mudroom/laundry. As you enter the foyer, there's a formal dining room on your left, stairs to the upper level on your right, and a short hallway straight ahead with a powder room and a coat closet that opens to the living room.

As you enter the spacious living room, there is a fireplace on the right, a wide opening to the kitchen on the left, and at the far end of the room three pairs of glazed doors open to a large screened porch. The ceiling – like all of the rooms on the main level – is set at a lofty 10'. The kitchen has a center island with a built–in cook top and room for casual dining or serving. There is a butler's space between it and the dining room that has a sink and wine chiller on one side, and a pantry on the other. An opening off the kitchen leads to a small office area with a built–in desk beneath wrap around windows, a door to the porte–cochere at the side of the house, and a mudroom/laundry room with a powder room.

The kitchen is open to a lovely sunroom/family room that is wrapped with windows on two sides. The tongue & groove wood ceiling is graced with decorative exposed beams that radiate off a central spine that runs diagonally through the room. A pair of 3'–wide glazed doors open to the rear screened porch, which has an optional fireplace at one end.

The right side of the house is dedicated to the master suite. The bedroom has a fireplace facing the bed, decorative exposed beams on the ceiling, and a pair of doors flanked by windows that open out to the screened porch. The bath features a soaking tub beneath three windows, a shower with a bench and a drying area, two sinks, a separate built–in vanity, and a private toilet room. And off the bath area there is a very large walk–in closet. Across the hall from the bedroom there's a sitting room that could also be used as a den, a guest room, or a home office. This room can also be accessed from the front porch.

The landing on the upper level provides access to up to three bedrooms. Each bedroom has windows on three walls for light, views, and cross ventilation. Bedroom 3 has its own full bath, while 2 and 4 share one. Bedroom 2 – which could serve several other purposes if you don't need four bedrooms – has three pairs of glazed doors that open out to a 12'–deep screened porch, and a ceiling that vaults in the center. The other rooms on this level have 9' ceilings.
