We designed a steep roofed cottage of stucco and wood, with a simple plan that contains the basic activities of daily life within a single great-room. The gabled forms offer opportunities for a open volume over the living room, a tiny play loft at the peak of the roof between the childrens' bedrooms, and a treehouse space shaded by awnings perched above the garage.

The inviting front stoop of this simple yet elegant home opens into a foyer with an elegant stone wall separating it from the great room. The master suite is conveniently located on the main floor, and the rooms on the second floor are vaulted. Covered porches provide plenty of contact with nature. If you wish to take advantage of its passive solar design, the front of this house should face south.

This beautiful wood shingled home wraps around a central outdoor courtyard garden, which provides views to the rooms located in the center of the home.
