Originally designed as a recreational retreat, this 2–bedroom, 2–bath cottage would nevertheless make a great informal home for a small family either starting out or downsizing. Wood siding and curved roof lines grace the exterior. Its efficient kitchen, large dining area, and cozy living nook all front on a full length, 8' wide verandah.

Northern Sun combines the traditional elements of a large symmetrical front porch and a central foyer with a staircase, with a contemporary interior that fits the needs of a growing family. The focal point of this home is the two–story foyer in front that connects to the two–story dining room beyond it. If you wish to take advantage of its passive solar design, the front of this house should face north.

Coronado

This strawbale house was originally designed around a prominent oak tree, resulting in a spatially interesting floor plan that has a passive solar orientation for winter heat gain. Natural round wood columns and timber elements grace the exterior.

This house comes in five variations that range from 636 square feet to 849 square feet. The architect was looking to design a small building that did not become so obsessed with efficiency that it lost its presence.
