This charming country cottage feels right at home in nature. This compact house was designed as a vacation home, but it could function as a year–round residence. It's rustic in appearance, and its steep roofline and angled garage make it visually unique. And even though it's under 1,600 sf, there's room for three bedrooms above ground, and room for a fourth if you choose to build the basement level.

This is a truly unique house, both inside and out. Like the prow of a large ship, the angled walls of the great room project from the front of the house. In addition to amazing views provided by the soaring windows, this room has a magnificent ceiling crossed by exposed wood trusses. The house is separated into two wings, with the master suite on one side and the living spaces on the other. There's a round deck at the front, and a round patio space with a fireplace at the rear.

Okoboji Cabin

As you can see, this small house was designed to be built in a natural setting. It has an entry porch in front, a covered porch on one side, and a screened porch on the other. It also provides great views, particularly to the rear. The living room has a ceiling that vaults all the way to the roofline, and a large fireplace for cold evenings. The master suite is on the main level, and there are two additional bedrooms and a loft space on the upper level. If you choose to build the basement level, it's designed to provide another bedroom and bath, a family room, an office/den, and a laundry room.

Rustic Charm is a modest three–bedroom home that was originally built near a creek in Colorado. Decorative wood details are located at the roof eaves, lending a whimsical aesthetic to the wood shingled and batten siding exterior. With plenty of windows on three sides, and strategically placed skylights in the roof, this charming house is filled with natural light during the day.
