There is something about this beautiful Craftsman–style house that seems to make everyone who sees it fall in love with it. The steep–pitched roofs (with a unique curving "lip" over the entry), combined with the shingles, wood siding, and wood detailing, produce an exterior that dazzles all who approach it.

This house is a fine example of a classic craftsman bungalow, displaying its craftsman detailing in both its handsome exterior and continuing throughout the entire interior of the home. The generous front covered porch spans the entire width of the home, and includes timber posts atop oversized tapered columns, timber frame detailing, and a vaulted ceiling over the entry door. The spacious and open kitchen features a unique breakfast nook with peek–a–boo views to the living room and the stairway.

This house was designed by the architect to create a place that was wonderful to be in because it was small. The clients wanted the smallest footprint possible to minimize the impact on their beautiful land.

The architect has always seen this house as an island in a sea of woods or fields. In the clients' case it was a second growth spruce and cedar forest a bit inland from the Maine coast.
